Rando Ramblings

This post literally has nothing to do with anything except for random stuff that has been going on. Feel free to mock me if you like, I'm judging me a little too that this is the most exciting stuff I have to talk about.

  • Saturday, G and I went to the Royals game with a new couple that we met through his sister. For the first time ever in my life, I sat outside tailgating through an entire game. WHO IS THIS PERSON?! I missed the Royals win in the 10th inning, but stuffed my face with 2 kinds of kettle chips, jalapeƱo cheetos, and chips with dip.

  • I have been watching the Real Housewives of Orange County and all I can think is how much I dislike, yet love this show and living vicariously through their crazy... I thought I was going to like Megan, you know since she isn't 55... but nope, she's shallow, judgy, and stubborn. As much as I hate to say it, I agree with Vicki-- you don't have a job, so you should consult with the person who brings in the money. Shannon, you just need to stop being a victim. That puss bag you married cheated on you. Either kick his ass out or move on. Oh, and I'm back to loving Tamra. She is back with a vengeance. That's all.

  • This summer I have eaten worse than I imagined, but since I don't eat breakfast and eat a healthy dinner I have justified eating all the cheetos I want. Oh, and funyuns.
  • Yup, I just admitted to eating cheetos twice in one post. Real life, bitches. Real life.
  • I went to the cable place, in order to return our internet modem because we were mailed a new one and the return label that was sent with it said bill to sender upon receipt in the corner--- I took that to mean that if I returned it via the mail I would see a fee on my next bill. By the time I left the cable store, all my backhanded insults had gotten through and our bill is going down by $17/month, I got a new cable box where I now can DVR up to 6 channels at once and have 3x the storage, AND we got a different new internet modem because we got that upgraded even more. I felt like I had conquered the world. Then, I realized I still owe them way too much money every month.

Any Rando Ramblings you want to share?

Friday Favorites

Things are pretty low key around this way. I'm wrapping up summer vacation and starting to prepare for getting back in the groove of work. I met one of my new principals this week, finding out that the storage half of my room will be removed and I will have an entire room this year! YAY! On that happy note, here are some of the things I've been crushing on lately.

Fave etsy Finds
As the Royals season goes on, I always start to want new Royals bling. Just to torture myself, I looked up things on etsy.  Want. All. The. Things.

Fave Song

DJ Snake and Aluna George -"You Know You Like It"

I love just about anything by DJ Snake, so this is my jam and on repeat.

Fave TV Show

Ya'll if you haven't watched this show, I think it's def worth it. It's funny in the "WTF that is exactly like my life" way, not the scripted kind of funny. That and in one of the episodes Leah and her family discuss their leaving Scientology, in another how Leah doesn't look at her vagazzle & doesn't let her hubs either, and yet another about how she goes to therapy.  How much more real does that get?! Worth an hour of your life, swear.

Fave Recipe

I totally adapted this Brown Butter Gnocchi recipe to fit my needs. And by that I mean I used store bought gnocchi, added protein (chicken), and took out the cheese. But other than that, totally the same recipe. It was delish.

Fave Purchase

This shirt doesn't look amazing in this picture, but it fits perfect and the gold foil dots are slightly vintagey faded looking. It dresses up cute shorts and the neckline looks great with a statement necklace. Bonus? On sale for 9.99 and you can use whatever Kohls coupons you have.

Wal-Mart Beauty Box Review {{Summer 2015}}

I got my Wal-Mart  beauty box subscription this past week. Wal-Mart boxes ship seasonally, meaning 4 per year, and only cost $5! They are filled with a variety of coupons, sample packets, travel size samples, and full size products. This to me is worth the $5 price tag. You can go here to get your own.

For the summer box, there was a bunch of goodies that I am excited to try.

  • Neutrogena Healthy Volume Mascara: (travel size) excited to try this waterproof, clump free, volumizing mascara.
  • Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy: (travel size) I will definitely use this at some point, my scalp does get flaky during the winter which is rapidly approaching. I like the idea that hair gets stronger while your scalp gets the TLC it needs.
  • Nivea Soft Creme: (travel size) I plan on throwing this in my purse. It has a light scent, goes on clean and non-greasy, and feels great on your hands.
  • John Frieda Sea Waves Sea Salt Spray: (travel size) this has a light scent and I am excited to try it in my hair to see if it leaves a crispy feel. It touts that it texturizes and is non-drying, so we'll see on that one.
  • NYC Felt Tip Liquid Liner: (Full size) super excited by this eyeliner. I love to use gel liners and other precision eye liners and this one has a double sided tip, so that you can create a thick, full line or a smaller, softer line.

There was also a few smaller samples that you can see in the picture, but the one I was most shocked by was the You & I perfume by One Direction. It has notes of fresh fruit and seasonal flowers, with an undertone of musk. It smelled good! I wish that sample had been larger, as it was only one application.

Has anyone else tried the Wal-Mart Beauty Box yet?

One Year

On July 19th, 2014 I married the man whom I had come to build a life with, who had become such an integral part of my life that I couldn't think of what life would look like without him in it. I married my best friend.

In the past year, we have done so much and grown together in ways that I hadn't anticipated. This past year has been filled with highs and lows, all of which have made us even stronger. We have spent the past 365 days filled with love, laughter, and having our partner by our sides.

We have filled those 365 days with...

Buying 1 New Car

Completing Countless Hours of Physical Therapy for 1 Knee

Tailgating at  3 Chiefs Games

Cheering on our Royals at 1 American League, 2 World Series Games, and Numerous Home Games

1 Plaza Lighting Ceremony for Thanksgiving with My Uncle

Hours Spent Working on Our Home

1 Trip to Mexico for a Destination Wedding
1 Enrique Iglesias and Pitbull Concert
1 Cider Fest
Thousands of Margaritas
Hours Playing Video Games Together
Hundreds of Pictures of the Boxers
Hundreds Spent in Vet Bills for the Boxers
Unknown Number of Rando Dance Parties in our Living Room

And I wouldn't change any of it....

Edamame and Bacon Succotash Recipe

For the 4th of July BBQ at my Uncle's house, I brought the BEST side dish, which I got from Women's Day Magazine. I did tweak a few things, since nobody ever follows a recipe exactly, or at least I don't.

Edamame & Bacon Succotash

4 slices bacon
4 c. fresh corn kernels (from about 4 ears)
1 1/2 c. frozen shelled edamame
2 roasted red peppers, cut into 1/4 in. pieces
3 scallions, thinly sliced
kosher salt
black pepper
3/4 c. fresh basil, roughly chopped

1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Cook the bacon in a medium skillet over medium heat until crisp, 5 to 6 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate, and break into pieces when cool.
2.  Drop the edamame into the boiling water and cook for 2 minutes; drain and run under cold water to cool.
3. Do a quick sautĆ© of the corn in the bacon fat left in the skillet.
4. In a large bowl, combine the corn, edamame, roasted red peppers, scallions,  3/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Fold in the basil and bacon just before serving.

Catching Up on Life

I decided that I could catch you all up, but only phone dump style. I realized I hadn't uploaded ANY pictures from my phone in a hot second, so that's how we're doing it today.

If you didn't see on IG, we had a huge part of the tree in our front yard fall over from all the rain and storms we've been having. So, we decided that we would cut it up ourselves.
Under the watchful eye of Sir Tiggles

We actually really liked this little tree, but had it removed by professionals a few days later as it was rotted on the inside. Who knew?

Look at my boo going at it with a chainsaw. Me? I got the clippers and was in charge of snipping everything into smaller pieces, bagging, and bundling.

I took my boo that a Mexican restaurant that he had never been to before, but I go to with my work wives. The margs there are too legit and the food is always good. The one thing I hate is that they charge for chips and salsa. That shit is the food of your people, it should be free!

My bad got me some baseball Jamberries as a gift, so I saved them for the 4th of July! They were perfect.

My Uncle had his annual 4th of July BBQ on the night before, which is when his city does there firework show.

On the 4th of July, we went to a Royals game! I convinced G that we needed to legit tailgate, versus rush around and chugging beers. It was so much fun!

My main squeeze, Salvy, behind the plate!

We had the best seats in the 3rd row on the aisle, which are my fave seats.

I tried to take a pic of Gabriel to show how freaking close we were. You can see how super full the stadium was.

Slugger was hanging out in the press box directly in front of us, which was so fun. I wasn't able to get a picture with him in his costume, even though he kept walking next to us. He was walking with a purpose every time and I didn't want to interrupt, even though I do understand his job is to take photos with fans.

The fireworks were amaze! They played music (5 songs) and the fireworks were in synch with the music, which was so cool.

I've spent a lot of time with this guy. Ms. Ginger doesn't really like to take photos, so I don't have as many of her.

I've started doing morning walks with my friend, Jen, before she goes to work and we saw this crazy bird at the lake where we walk. Why would this bird be at the tiniest lake in the middle of summer in the middle of Kansas? I truly don't get it, but love this photo.

Well, that's all I've got in my phone that I think anyone would be remotely interested in.
What's new with all you?

Celebrating the 4th in Style {{Fashion}}

This year, Gabriel and I are going to a Royals game for the 4th of July, so you know I will be repping Royal Blue all the way! No matter what your plans are, here are some items that would  be amazing to rock. Even better, everything on here is super reasonably priced. The jumpsuit is the most expensive piece and is still less than $40!

Bonus:

What are your plans for this weekend? Share!
