Arms as Decoration? Really?

So for Wedding Wednesday I am going to let you in on a shopping trip my Ma and I recently took. We went over to a friends home to look at all of her antiques. If you want it, she's got it. I plan to take some shit off her bathroom counter to use a centerpieces. Budget friendly wedding decs! While I didn't take photos of her house, I did take some pretty glorious photos of shopping at some antique stores.
I'm thinking of using her as my photo double. No arm fat and no sweat stains all night! Her makeup will also last all night, while mine while sweat off in 5 minutes. Perfect body double.
I love rummaging around stores, but some of them were stanky! the stuff smelled as if someone's granny had died while wearing some of the clothes. Not a good smell.

There were lots of knick knacks to sort through. We found some pretty napkins and doilies to use under the table centerpieces.

This had to be one of my favorite things. I look over and there is a f-ing arm poked out. Not a normal arm, but a creepy arm that is just hanging there, poking out like it wants to touch you. Who does that?!
I wanted to put this up on the street were the smokers will have to stand. I smoke for taste. I mean why else would you smoke?

If anyone knows of any good thrift or antiques stores in the Kansas City area let me know! Help a girl out!

Go Royals!

My friend Jen got some bombass Royals tickets from work. They were in the Diamond Club, so we had our own actually little table to sit at and the nicest usher, Betsy! Jen and I usually go to a ton of Royals games, but this summer has been slightly different, with all of us turning into adults and shit. Having my summers off is great and all, but since I'm the only one it sorta blows to try and have shenanigans by yourself everyday. But this year? Everyone is super busy! You know buying houses, getting man friends, living life. So, Royals games have become a hot commodity in my world. It helps that they don't win that frequently, so when they do it's even more fun! It's all about perspective.

I don't know about you but my friends and I are a LITTLE obsessed with Straw-ber-itas right now. Like we are gonna get in trouble to the point obsessed. Not that anyone needs to stage an intervention or anything. We kind like it this way. That is what our pre-game tailgating consisted of. Straw-ber-itas. Oh, and a Miller light for me since I had one. If you got it, drink it, right?

We went to the game with Kala's new bf. I don't think he wanted to be pictured, but what he doesn't know won't hurt him. This was Jen's first time meeting Kala's man friend and I think he did very well with the gaggle of drunken beavers that he went to the game with. I mean, the 3 of us, free booze that comes right to us, and a winning game?! That is a recipe for the best time evah! I think the Royals played the Orioles and I think we won. That's what I remember of the actual game play.

What is your home town team? Do you go to games?

Cranky Pants

We've moved into our new house. It didn't go the way I had planned in my head. I like things to be set out and then I follow that plan. I don't really like when the plan changes and I don't know about it. Well, The Mister also likes to do things his way. Mostly because he hears what I'm saying, but doesn't always LISTEN. And yes folks there is a difference. A BIG DIFFERENCE. So, I thought we would close on the house on the 19th, then come over and clean, paint, and bring over small stuff this week. Tomorrow was supposed to be our "big" moving day. If you hadn't noticed, we've been living here all week. Well, The Mister and his dad decided to hire movers to do all of our big ticket items and scheduled it for Monday the 22nd.

Moving the date up by a week completely threw my easy, calm, lots of time to move plan into a tailspin. It also made me put on my cranky pants frequently this week. I feel like I am not getting anything done since the rooms aren't painted, so we can't move stuff into them yet. The one thing I refuse to do is paint around a bunch of crap in the middle of the room if we don't have to. And we don't have to, so we aren't. Let me retract that statement, I do have the bathroom and kitchen set up. They were my first priority since I go back to work soon and we need to be able to use them asap. Other than that, I watched tv while sitting on a cardboard box the other day, because the tv and cable are the only things in my house right now (I got my priorities in the right order). We slept with our mattress on the floor since it was here but our bedroom furniture had not been delivered. While I am a cluttery person, I dislike chaos and feeling unorganized and that is exactly how this week made me feel. Yay moving! Don't get me wrong, I am glad we bought our first home. I am excited we have done that. I am not excited about how little communication and organization there was to the move.  So, it's rainy outside and I have my cranky pants on. But, at least I'm not on my period. There is that.

Grease is my favorite movie ever!

I was contacted to do a review on the cutest dresses around! I love, love, love vintage and vintage inspired clothes, mostly because Grease is my favorite movie EVER. Oh, and the Sandlot. Oh, and all the Mighty Ducks. But mostly Grease. I feel like vintage inspired clothes truly flatter a woman's body and fit in a way that make everyone look beautiful. If you love clothes like this too, you should go check out hip hop 50's shop they carry some of the cutest dresses and if you are wanting to do a theme party this is the place to get your needs met! I'm thinking I may dress in a poodle skirt for Halloween this year (which is an outfit I wore one year growing up). My favorite dresses are the two below. I love that they both are fitted in all the right places and would make your boobies (and everything else you got) look great. I would wear either of these dresses to dinner or a party, they are dressy enough to go formal and cute enough to be on the more casual side as well. What do you think? Would you wear either?

Welcome Home!

I've been gone all week buying my house and moving :) It's exciting and nerve wracking all at once. Oh, and I forgot to mention painting. The people who moved out had two little boys, so those bedrooms were painted boy colors. I creepily took photos when we took our tour so that I could see how they had decorated the living room and set up their couches. I took photos of all the other gloriousness just to document the awesome tasted that Gabriel and I have in paint colors. Here are the before pics of some of the rooms! I love how large the kitchen is, but I just can't get down with black and white cabinets with yellowy beige walls. No bueno.

We have had tons of help with the move! I gotta give a shout out to all my homies! My parents came by and helped clean, shelf paper, and fix crap. Jen and Kala came by and helped me unpack some stuff, paint, and shelf line!I had these bitches working hard for their money!I somehow ended up inside a cabinet while shelf lining. Apparently, that's not necessary. On the upside, now I know where to hide if we get robbed.

I want to break free! (bonus points if you get the song referenced)

So happy Kala let me out!

Wedding Wednesday

In terms of wedding planning, we truly haven't started too hardcore yet. Our wedding date is July 19th, 2014, so we've got some time. I say that now, but truly it will come up quick. We aren't having a separate wedding and reception, rather we are hosting a big, fun party to celebrate our love :) The venue is a historic ballroom in Westport located in KC, MO. It's gonna be fun times!

For decorations the theme is Beautifully Junktastic, or my mother has been calling it Shabby Chic. I really, really love the color purple, but the Mister says we can't have everything aaaalllll purple. WTF?! This is my day. So we compromised, dusty purple and mint with gray/silver are our colors.  Oh, and we have a birdcage for our cards. It totally fits with our Beautifully Junktastic theme!

Inspiration for our "cake" and table decorations

Closest colors I could find to what I like (thank you Sherwin Williams)

Did you guys do anything that was absolutely fabulous? I would love to hear about it!

Skinnygirl Review

Skinnygirl(R) Cocktails

I've had the pleasure of reviewing a variety of products for the word of mouth marketing agency Bzzagent. When I was asked to participate in a review of the new line of "ladies" debuting from Skinnygirl, I was insanely excited. We all know Mama likes some booze. As part of this, I was given a discount on the ladies of Skinnygirl and asked to honestly review.

Skinnygirl describes their new Sweet 'N Tangy Grapefruit Margarita as a refreshingly tangy twist on the original Skinnygirl Margarita, adding a grapefruit splash to the classic recipe of premium Silver Tequila and agave nectar. DAAAMN BOO! That sounds amazeballs! I loves me some margaritas.

Let's just cut straight to the chase here, mkay. Going in expecting a refreshingly tangy twist on a classic margarita, I was let down. The consistency was unexpected, slightly thicker than I want in a marg. The taste cloyingly sweet with tang, I wouldn't say Sweet 'N Tangy per say, but there was a definite tang. As this was already a mixed drink, I didn't add or change anything. I think that for the price, you can buy a different light marg mix and add a splash of grapefruit to suit your taste. Or find a recipe for light, flavored margaritas.

I'm holding out hope that the vodka will be better! Have you tried Skinnygirl? What's your fave flavor or drink? Let me know, so I can try too!

First World Problems

Soooo after a week of the Mister not having to work I am extremely excited he went back to work today! Too much time together. All he likes to do is tease me about my #firstworldproblems #FML

In honor of the Mister going back to work, I put together a list of my #firstworldproblems

#FIRSTWORLDPROBLEMS

1. When the Picture in Picture shows up during my DVR marathon of 90210 (the original #thankyouverymuch).

2. When the Mister wants to cuddle and all I want to do is watch tv and eat chips (b/c we all know what cuddling leads to).

3. When I need a new piece of kitchen equipment (a griddle) because I have to use too many pots and pans to cook the overabundance of food we are going to eat. True #firstworldproblems

4. When I am watching my trashy reality tv and the Mister constantly mocks and makes fun of it.

What is there to make fun of?!?!

This shit is legit educational tv as evidence by the above child climbing on a pole. I mean, she already has a career picked out and she's how old? Success.

I know you've got some #firstworldproblems too. What are yours?

Yummy Dessert Recipe

I don't know about you, but I like to eat my way through holidays. It can be Christmas, Halloween, Valentine's Day.... Or the Fourth of July and I will eat the entire day. So, I thought I'd share my recipe for a wonderful, pseudo-healthy Lemon Berry Trifle. It is so yum!

Lemon Berry Trifle
16oz angel food cake
1 container frozen whipped topping, thawed
1 small (6-8oz) yogurt (vanilla or lemon)
1/2-1 cup lemon curd
2 cups fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries)
Cut angel food cake in to 1-2 inch cubes. Place a third in the bottom of a trifle dish.
Combine thawed whipped topping with yogurt and lemon curd. Mix well until the lemon curd is completely incorporated into the yogurt mixture. Spread a third of the recipe evenly over the angel food cake.
Layer some berries around the side of the triflel dish, so that people can see them.
Continue to layer angel food pieces, whipped topping mixture, and berries.
On the top layer, make sure it looks pretty! You can add some lemon zest so that people know it's a lemon berry trifle.
Proceed to eat!

*** I make mine with a boxed angel food cake mix, fat free whipped topping, and a 100 calorie lemon greek yogurt***
**recipe adapted from Around My Family Table

Don't worry I put it in the dishwasher after

I took my beautiful Lemon Berry Trifle over to my uncle's house for his pre-Fourth of July BBQ. The fireworks in his city go off on the 3rd, so he has people over to eat, drink, and be merry then. It is always a lot of fun. And food. It makes you feel slightly guilty the next day, but only slightly.

Let me know if you try the trifle and how you like it! It's one of my favorite go to recipes that can be made quickly and easily (especially if you use store bought cake).

Wedding Wednesday... How I Met the Mister

This post could also be titled "Hey, boy, hey."The story will explain a little better as to why I say that.

The beginning...

Four years ago, I was in grad school, working full time, and an intern at a high school when I moved from a house right near my job and internship into an apartment in a nicer neighborhood (that's a whole diff story that includes opossums!). A few months later, I quit my full-time job and had A LOT more free time on my hands. So, with all my free time I would sit on my back patio with the striped dog (cough... drinking wine... cough). After a few days, I noticed this really cute guy walking his own two boxers the same time everyday. I would wave and he would wave back. Then, he started walking shirtless (it may be because it was warm out or it may be due to a slightly buzzed girl waving a lot). In response, I started wearing low cut shirts and tank tops. After a few chats, I started walking the striped dog with the two blonde dogs almost everyday.  While wearing my low cut shirts.

At this point, we hadn't gone on a date, exchanged phone numbers, nothing. One random day, I totally got a weird crick in my neck and it wouldn't move, so I went over and told the Mister no dog walks for me indefinitely. A little but later, the Mister shows up at my front door and asks if I want to go for a drive to the bookstore. We went, talked and had fun. All with a weird crick in my neck and wearing sweats. Cute.  Then, the Mister started accepting my invitations to come over for dinner almost every day. We exchanged phone numbers to make it official. Love at first sight, right? Essentially, I was all "Hey, boy, hey" in my low cut shirts and he was cheap and easy. True Love.

All the boxers.

This Ain't No Kids Game

All I need is my boxed wine....
So... I think I maybe killed my liver this weekend. For some reason, we thought it would be a good idea to day drink immediately after getting done taking photos on Saturday.

Needless to say Kala, the Mister and I totes earned all the Straw-ber-ritas we drank. The Mister is too good for Straw-ber-ritas, so he drank.... I have no idea what he drank. We ended up at Mi Ranchito, with the Mister downing Patron like it's his job and margs as big as our heads. Which ain't good. Tequila makes me cry. Not the pretty, cute little alligator tears. The other kind- the snot on your face, crying for no reason cry #Keepin'ItClassy. Thank goodness that didn't happen to me. I think I diluted the one marg with enough boxed wine to be safe. My other bestie, Jen came over and joined in. And by joined in, I mean drank two beers and silently judged us. It was def a yoga pants kinda day.
At my parents house #familytime

Sunday, my Pops totally fixed my car. Turns out, it wasn't really broken I just hadn't put the gas cap back on tight enough. Womp womp. So, we engaged in an activity that we do best. Drinking Miller Light. I like to think we were practicing for the Fourth of July. I mean you gotta get your liver right to celebrate 'Merica.

On a side note, if you don't follow me on Instagram, you totally should. It's pictorial evidence of the awesomeness that is the daily happenings of my life. It's like Twitter, but different :) I say that because Twitter is where I share my unhealthy obsession with #trashytv. My name is Tracie1213 on both. Find me.
