March Goal Recap

March came and went lightening fast. I liked putting together goals for the  month, it held me more accountable. I also managed to watch a lot of TV, hang out with my boo thang A LOT, and visit a new zoo.

  • Paint "C" and "&" for bedroom gallery wall. I found an easy tutorial that I think I may actually be able to pull off for antiqued letters. Her monogram looks sooo cool, but let's be honest G C T doesn't look that great in the same pattern as hers. Grade: A+; I got them painted with a quickness! They look so good and it was a super easy project.
  • Complete gallery wall in the bedroom. I have little odds and ends to do a small gallery wall, but haven't taken the time to put it together. Grade: A; I ended up not liking all the items together, but did put up 3 items that I did like. I call that a good start!
  • Replace pictures in window and get window hung (hubs has to to do this part). We saved the window from our wedding that had childhood pictures in it. I want to replace the pictures with wedding photos and hang it in our breezeway, which so far has no decor. Grade A+; this got completed and looks so awesome in that room!
  • Clean out guest room closet. I need to sort and organize my craft supplies, so that I can bring some to work and move what I keep into cute baskets in our breezeway, where there is a ton of shelving/storage with nothing in it. Grade F; I didn't even start to get this one done. I did however clean out the medicine closet, hall closet, and switch out my clothing closets. Thus, creating a new to donate pile. But still, no guest room closet.
  • Attend Tuesday night yoga class with work friend. Trying to be healthy and make friends, what more can I say? Grade D; We've gone once and it was to pilates. I swear to goodness, I learned to twerk when doing some of the moves on the ball. So this could actually be a D+ just for learning that skill.

  • How did you do on your goals?! Tell me!

    Humpday Confessions {{3.25.15}}

I have missed spilling my guts out on Wednesdays, so I thought I would get back to humping on the regular. Also, Lauren has started #HashtagHumpday, which I've loved reading on her blog, so I thought I'd join in that humping too! Let me know your confessions or add your own hashtags below!

    #Hashtaghumpday @ Life with Lolo

G hasn't shaved his beard in a hot second. Legit, it looks like vag hair on his neck. Like an unkempt, 70's porn star. If the porn star had ginger hair going grey. #verginaface

I get unreasonable rage when people ring the door bell. We have a no soliciting sign and they still ring the door bell. Knocking doesn't give me unreasonable rage, just a mild angry feeling. It is just sooo annoying to have 100+lbs of boxer freaking out and barking because you can't read. #OneDayIWontHoldThemBack

My addiction to reality tv is getting to be too much. I am excited to watch Teen Mom OG. Like for real excited. I didn't watch any other Teen Moms, except that season and I feel like I know them. #andbythatImeanIwatchedFarrahsporn #EEEWWWW

One of my friends had a "sprinkle" for her second baby and on LHHNY Yandy is having a shower for her second baby... I gotta know when did showers for more than the first baby become a thing? If it's about free stuff, just let me know. I mean I'm down with getting free shit. #confused #feelingslightlysalty

I haven't gotten my haircut since August. I need to get it done really badly, but I am too cheap right now. Instead, I keep deep conditioning it to make sure the split ends aren't too noticeable. #basicbitchproblems

Grilled Pork Chop with Pineapple & Veggie Skewers

I mentioned yesterday that I adapted a recipe from a magazine and it turned out really well, so I thought I'd share the Grilled Pork Chops with Pineapple & Veggie Skewers we got down on Sunday night. This recipe is adapted from Women's Day April 2015 magazine.

This recipe reminds me a little of sweet and sour pork, it has similar flavors, but with an added kick form the chili powder! It is super easy to make and can be done with any veggies or sauce you like. We love to take veggie skewers like this to tailgate, they are so easy and simple to make.

This recipe serves 2, so double amount as needed

    Ingredients:
1 bell pepper, cut into chunks
1/2 medium red onion, cut into chunks
1/4 pineapple, cored and cut into 1 inch chunks
8 oz whole mushrooms, cleaned and halved (for me this was 5 baby bella)
6 oz carrot slices (I buy the pre-sliced bag)
    1/2 cup ketchup
    2 Tbsp honey
    1 Lime
1/2 cup Cilantro, torn plus a little for garnish
1/2 tsp smoked chili powder (or chipotle chili powder)
    1 lbs Pork Chops
Skewers, if using wood soak first

steps 2-4 can be completed ahead of time, so that the veg/pineapple can marinate in the fridge.
    1. Preheat grill
    2. In a tupperwear container or bowl with lid, put bell pepper chunks, red onion chunks, pineapple chunks, mushrooms, and carrots.
    3. Next, in a small bowl mix together ketchup, honey, chili powder, and zest and juice the lime into the ketchup/honey mixture. Add in the torn cilantro and mix well.
    4. Pour half the ketchup mixture over the pineapple and veggie chunks. Put lid on tupperwear and toss to coat.
5.Skewer mixture in whatever pattern you desire. The mushroom are the most delicate, so you may want to put them into the middle of your pattern (i.e. mine went bell pepper, pineapple, carrots, mushroom, red onion).
    6. Salt and pepper pork chops.
    7. Take everything outside and place on grill
    8. Slather your ketchup/honey mixture on your pork chops once on the grill.
    9. Cook until everything is done, turning regularly and adding more ketchup/honey mixture to your hearts content! Our chops were thick, bone out so they took about 15 minutes total at 450 degrees.

The 2-3 veggies on the very end always get black-- I just plan for that and make sure to have enough veg so that no one goes hungry :)

Let me know if you try this! What are some of your fave grilling recipes?

    Weekend Recap- Spring Break Style {{3.23.15}}

This past week was Spring Break for me, so I had big, grandiose plans. You remember those days, right? Where you think, "self, you've go a few days off let's get wild!" Hahaha, well my big, grandiose plans were to host a girls brunch, paint the kitchen cabinets, and do a little shopping. Spring Break adult style. What did I get done? I hosted the girls brunch. Yup, that's it off my wild plans.

What did I do for the past week? That's a good question.

Saturday- the boo thang and I deep cleaned the house in order to make it presentable for the next days girls brunch. It also made us feel better, because then we had no real pressure to do anything for the next week.

Sunday- some of my best girl friends came over for a brunch! I baked this hash brown casserole  and french toast bake , had a mimosas for all the girls, and asked them to bring their favorite brunch food. We had way too much food and not enough champagne, imagine that! Note to all those hosting brunches, under buy food and over buy booze.

    comfiest t-shirt dress ever!

Monday- Boo thang and I went to the Topeka Zoo. I love going to zoos and G doesn't mind going with me. He is a walking encyclopedia of useless information, so he actually likes learning about the animals (read: telling me about the animals). The Topeka zoo is small, but extremely family friendly and because of it's size you are closer up to the animals than you would be at a larger zoo! There was a gorilla sleeping cuddled up with a Minnie Mouse that was the cutest ever.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday- I got sick. Chest cough, congestion, and having to sleep in the guest room from the coughing sick. Hence, no painting of the cabinets for us. I literally did nothing but sleep, take medicine, and hang around the house. We did venture out on Thursday to Ikea, weirdest yet coolest place ever. It's a self-service home goods warehouse and it is set-up so that you have to walk the entire store. Most of the items there were too minimalist for my taste, but G loved pretty much everything.

Yup, most of Spring Break was spent doing this.

Friday- Feeling mostly human, I wanted to go on a date night and requested Bucca de Beppo. For some reason I was craving their margherita pizza and caesar salad. In case you were wondering, soooo good!

    pre-dinner sunglass selfie!

          Feeling good again! Yay!

    G enjoying his Mulan Mule
(he now drinks these most places, I think it's for the fun cup)

Saturday and Sunday- We went back to normal life again. Playing outside with the dogs, walking the neighborhood, grocery shopping, and grilling out. I played around with a recipe from a magazine and it was really good, so I will def share that!

Yummy pork chop with veg/pineapple skewers!

What all have you been up to?

    Etsy Shops I love

It's no secret that I love to shop online. When I was planning my wedding, I ordered tons of stuff off of etsy! I love the fact that they are small business owners who make unique items. Here are some of the etsy shops I love to browse.

This Fine Day is a store were all items are handmade from salvaged wood and is located  in the Pacific Northwest. The items are sooo different and extremely reasonably priced. Right now, I am eyeballing a custom state sign... I just think that Kansas would look boring :)

Printable Motivation offers extremely reasonably priced instant digital downloads, ranging from invitations to wall art. The owner is located in California and will customize anything to your hearts desire. I think this love printable would look amaze in a cool frame as part of my bedroom gallery wall I am putting together.

The Vinyl Company  has all sorts of vinyl signs that can be used around your home. From monograms to cute sayings, you can find it all in this store. I have convinced G that we need a classy looking No Soliciting sign for our door. It's not that we hate people, it's just we hate people who come knocking on our door ALL THE TIME to sell stuff. My fave? The man offering home improvements you said," I can tell you just updated your vinyl siding and windows... and maybe your roof, but just in case here's our info." Really?! If you can tell, why come knock on my door and rile the boxers? Next time, I'm letting them out to get you.

Carrie Elle carries meal planners and organizers that I dream about. They are a little pricey for my taste at about $25, but I am also super cheap. I like that the meal planners have perforated pages, so that you can tear out grocery lists. There are monthly and weekly pages, to make tracking your meals easy in case you know there are days/weeks you are going to be super busy you can plan that out. Or, if you are a crockpot meal prep queen, you can plan to space those meals out through the month.

Bridal Bliss Couture is where I got the Mrs. tank that I wore on my wedding day. I loved that you can personalize their items so many different ways. I got a mint colored tank with a gray bow, so that I could incorporate my wedding colors. This store offers an array of items for your wedding party. I also ordered items from here when planning a friends bachelorette party.

    Weekend Recap {{3.9.15}}

This weekend was similar to last weekend, except I was super productive! Here in Kansas City it was a super nice weekend, so I spent time out and about.

Friday night we did the same thing we do most Fridays... Mi Ranchito with a dirty marg. Yum. I have this weird addiction to flautas. Because I am allergic to avocado, I get them without guac (which is apparently some peoples jam). I was so hungry, all four were gone before G was near finishing his two tacos. Whatevs #callmefatagain

Saturday we went and met with a CPA, personal question how do you all do your taxes? And for my married peeps, do you file jointly or separately? Why? If you are comfortable answering these questions please TELL ME! Then, the day was spent grocery shopping, running errands and having the Hubs (to my recently (past year or so) married baes, doesn't feel awesome to say Hubs?!) air up my car tires and wash my car. Since it was so nice, we grilled out-- I will share the recipe asap it was sooo good! We also updated our wedding window with pictures and got that hung! I am way excited and love the way it looks.

Sunday, here in Kansas City the high was 70, so we went for a walk and grilled out again. If nobody has shared with you about Ecco Domani Pinot Grigio they have done you wrong. It is the perfect light, grilling out wine. I also attempted to fix the bathroom sink. I have a feeling we are going to need some new plumbing soon. I am super excited to show you guys a wreath I am making, I went and got all the supplies since Joann's was having a bomb sale.

Oh, and I couldn't leave you without a picture of the boxers.

    Weekend Recap {{3.3.15}}

I'm a day late and a dollar short on the weekend recap, but I'm totes ok with that since I hate Mondays and try not to do anything productive on a Monday.

This is what I do all weekend. Two chains, RBF (Resting Bitch Face), and I hang out. Sometimes we read or watch tv. Other times, we take couch naps. Overall, this is how I spend a majority of my weekends.

On Friday nights, we go to cheap date night. For us, this usually means Mexican. Lately, I've been getting something called the Dirty Margarita. It's a house marg with pomegranate liquor and something else added. DELISH! It comes out layered and you mix it up. I personally believe it counts as a fruit since it has pineapples, oranges, strawberries on the rim AND has pomegranate liquor. Although, I do have to wonder what truly makes it dirty....

We were supposed to get SNOW MY GOD! This weekend and I was SUPER excited. I would like just one snow day. Just one. When it snows, I like it to be worth it. Wom, womp. The boxers did like running around like jackasses in the snow fall though. Living in Kansas, it has to be a blizzard of epic proportions to be a snow day.

    How's life with ya'll?
