Humpday Confessions

Confession truly is good for the soul. I think that I have become addicted to this weekly link up. I feel so much better after letting out all my inner secrets. You should totally go check out Humpday Confessions with Kathy at Vodka and Soda.

I totally took a picture of this rape mobile. And I have no shame in calling this a rape mobile. Look at this! I mean, for real?! Would you drive this around? You can't really tell, but there are balloons and smiley faces all over.... Creepy.

I get called out for my eye rolls at work. Like, I was in a meeting and it became story time rather than problem solving... and apparently my eyes rolled so hard into the back of my head that I thought that  they would get stuck. #sorrynotsorry

I've been trying to wean myself of of my crack addiction aka my addiction to diet soda. I stopped buying cases of soda and have instead gone to the cash and carry method. If I have enough cash in my wallet I can go in the teachers lounge and buy myself a nice, delightful can of diet soda. If not, I just continue hating myself and wishing that I had my lunch bag filled with soda like I used to.

I am in a wedding this weekend (Friday) and I still haven't bought the proper undergarments to hold my lady bits up yet. I have known that I was wearing a strapless dress for months. I am also feeling some type of way that I have to take a half day of work (PTO is my precious) and am not getting my hair/makeup professionally done. I have to do it MYSELF AND TAKE OFF WORK?! WTF?!

What are your deep, dark secrets?

Monday is Here Already? Kitchen Update and a Great Deal

We are still trying to get our kitchen fixed.  If you don't remember what I'm talking about you can catch up here and here. After having a hole in our wall for months, we decided that if we were going to try and make the best of the situation we were going to remodel. Yup, you heard right. Since we had a hole in the wall and are supposed to be getting new flooring we were going to make the kitchen how we wanted it! Sooo... we decided to take out the ugly 80's style apartment sliding door and put in a nice backdoor with blinds in the glass (because boxers love to terrorize mini blinds) and move the window down. The fridge was covering part of the window, but it no longer does! The fridge is getting moved down and we are going to add a pantry cabinet where the fridge used to be. So, what was accomplished in just ONE day you ask? Well, here are the photos.

It started raining about 30 minutes into the project, so the boys moved inside to tear everything out.
The holes where the window and sliding door USED to be. And my boo thang being a man getting all dirty and shit.
oh, did I mention they also took the siding off the back of the house? Well, we are going to get new siding for the entire house! Woot!
Oh, and I also forgot to mention that my Uncle is a contractor, so between he and Big T (who was an electrician in the Army) they got shit done with a quickness.
Covering up the hole where the old window used to be. And if you look at the left hand side, that's the frame for the new window.
Mr. hanging out the window, mad because I was making him smile.
And... this is the finished product. For now at least. We are havign a company re-side the entire house, so the boys didn't put any new siding up. Yup, we are those cooties with house wrap on the back of the house.
Next up, we are having the insurance company pay for the new floor and putting up the wall on the inside, so they are going to send a company out ASAP to do that. While they do that we are going to continue to get estimates on siding, a new roof, and windows for the entire house. After the new floor is put in, we are going to add the pantry cabinet, paint all the cabinets with Rust-Oleum Cabinet Transformations and the Rust-Oleum Counter Transformations.
These are the two cabinet colors I am debating between. Which do you like better? Let me know, becuase we are having the hardest time deciding!

Friday Faves

This has been a pretty good week! I did look like a drowned rat yesterday because of all the rain and one of the boxers (cough...Tig Tig...cough) did pee on the floor because he is afraid of the thunder gods, but other than that a good week.
  • A family friend hosted a couples shower for Gabriel and I this past Saturday. This was the best idea ever! Gabriel got a shit ton of tools, which he desperately needs since we are constantly working on the house. He also got a bottle of whiskey and of scotch. I got things for the kitchen and towels. It was like everyone felt bad for him, so they all gave him pity gifts because they thought they would be the only ones to give him something. Not so much.
Gabriel's face before the couples shower.

Gabriel's face after getting all the gifts.
  • Sandals are in full effect in the KC area. I am loving that I can wear whatev I want and not have to worry about if my feet are going to freeze to death. Although I have to admit, it's not actually that bad after you stop being able to feel your feet they're so cold.
  • Messy buns are all I am doing with my hair right now. I like to call them shit balls. Why? Becuase I literally dry shampoo my hair, put in a ponytail and wrap a second pony tail holder around it all, then bobby pin shit in place. I know, not that detailed of an explanation more of the cliff notes version, but if you want picture directions let me know. It literally takes 2 minutes, 4 if you fishtail braid the bangs. I will get my hair trimmed up, but right now I am too lazy and poor.
  • I have found more new blogs to read this week than ever before! I am not sure how, but magically I have found at least 5 blogs that my little heart goes pitter patter as I read their posts. Now, all I have to do is make them my friends. Because I am a creepy stalker like that.

I'm linking up with one of the blogs that I started cyber stalking this week. Go check it out Amanda at Meet at the Barre!

Why I Don't Really Use Facebook

More and more I've noticed when I talk to people they get all indignant that I haven't been on Facebook and say things like, "well I messaged you on FB." or "Didn't you see that I tagged you on FB to ask you?" Well, no I didn't see it. You want to know why? Because I hate Facebook more and more everyday. Everybody and their mother is on Facebook now (including my own mother) and use it for shit I don't care about. And if I don't care about it, why would I look at it?

Some of the reasons why I don't use Facebook are:

  • Photos that say things about God. For example the caption "Like if you love God. Ignore if you hate God." For the love of God, just stop. Facebook is not the time nor place for this shit.
  • Baby momma/daddy drama. Nobody has time to look at this shit about how yo baby daddy can't even take care his own but he go out and show out.

  • Status updates about your cheating ex and how much you loved them. And the hate you now feel for them.

  • The 2 week later status about how your cheating ex wants you back and you ain't having it. Nobody is impressed by this, trust me. If anything, we are mored annoyed that you are again wasting our time having to scroll over this.

Do you still use Facebook? What's your biggest pet peeve with it?

Humpday Confessions

Let's get this Humpday rolling! My budget is pretty much shot to shit between my own wedding, being in a friends wedding, and our house. So, I have started to live as if I have all the money in the world. Which is hysterically funny, because I definitely do not.

I most def hate on people who miss shit at work, yet I know I walk in 10 minutes later than I am supposed to. Technically, I am supposed to be there at 7:50am, but I always walk into the building I am assigned to that morning between 7:55 and 8:00am. Part of it is the fight over the bathroom in the morning, the other part is that I frequently start driving to the wrong school and have to turn around. Either way, I get my ass there and don't walk into meetings late or miss them, so I call that a win.

Family functions and get togethers are so not my thing. I love to be around people and to be social, but I just struggle with the drama that seems to be attached to groups of people getting together. I would much rather just have you facebook stalk me and random phone conversations than sit around the family table waiting to see what fight starts next.
I have dug out all my summer/spring clothes and am already trying to decide what to wear for my honeymoon. So, I look like a hoarder because there are all these under bed storage boxes filled with sandals and bathing suits sitting around our bedroom, but I have yet to try anything on. I know that my boo thang is going to go ape shit in one more day having the clothes and storage boxes sitting in our room, because he is the total opposite of a hoarder, so he always freaks out when he sees all my shit.

What is a friend?

Totally random, but I was thinking about all the things that I do with my friends, that if I haven't done with you then I'm not sure I can truly call you a best friend. Ya'll know what I am talking about, those things like accidently farting that if you did in front of someone you aren't REALLY, TRULY friends with might make you turn bright ass red and mumble then walk away? But, with a true friend, you laugh and say, "My bad."
If I've done this in front of you (or with you) then you are a purple, sparkly heart friend.
  • If I 've not worn pants in front of you.  I like to not wear pants and if I have gone pantsless around you we may just in fact be friends.
  • If I've taken a road trip with you. And not killed you. Or you not kill me. If you can get through more than a two hour car ride with a bitch, than you are homies for life. Because I usually want to cut a bitch after a thirty minute car ride.
  • If I've crawled into your bed in the middle of the night. Now, this may sound creepy as an almost thirty year old, but back in the day I had a habit of getting a little white girl wasted and crawling into people's beds. I prefer being the big spoon, just an FYI.
  • If we've talked about poop. Or other bodily functions. Pretty self-explanatory. While I am open, I am generally not that old lady with a walker who tells anyone who will listen about what her stool looked like today.
  • If we've talked on the phone while peeing. For me, I'll even Facetime you while peeing. I do have some boundaries though and talking while pooing is a no no.
  • If we never need to pay each other back for anything, because we are always spotting each other money so we know in the end it will even out.
  •  If we've taken care of each other while incredibly drunk. I mean, who else but a friend would do this? Becuase when I don't like a bitch, I usually just watch and laugh as they make a drunk ass of themself.
  • If we hate the same people, we have to be friends. What is that saying? Your enemies enemy is your friend.
What are some things you only do with friends?

did we just become best friends? stepbrothers photo bestfranz.gif

Week Recap

This week was a little all over the place. I think that this is a sign from the universe that I am supposed to take a half day Friday to end the week on a high note.

On Monday, received a grant at work. Also on Monday, I went bored out of my mind. I am not meant to live alone. I like noise. I like people around. The boxers don't really count. As much as I let them sleep in the bed next to me and I hold full conversations with them, they still don't count as true humans.

Tuesday, was just plain uneventful. I got a bitchy email from someone I work with, but that is to be expected so it doesn't count.

I totally had every PMS symptom that is the worst case scenario and had to leave work early Wednesday, but then got to pick my boo thang up from the airport.  I swear that I was going to punch myself in the baby maker.  I did sit in the airport for almost 2 hours because I was a dumbass and didn't know where the gate got out, but I managed to get him safely from the airport.

Thursday, I worked and listened to a webinar. I truly believe that webinars are there for me to get paid to sleep with my eyes open.

How was your week? As uneventful as mine?

And for your listening pleasure I give you a song I can't get out of my head. I would also like to brag that Tech Nine is a Kansas City native. You're jealous, I know.

Humpday Confessions

This week for my Humpday Confessions, I have to admit, I am a cootie. Like not totally trashy, so I can't call myself that, but I do have cootie tendencies. I'm not even ashamed of it though. Sometimes, you just have to accept yourself as you are.

  • I use a red solo cup at work... and I re-use the same one. I just put it back in my food stash desk drawer. I only drink water from it, so I feel like it's not too gross. And it's only my germs (that I know of). #cootie
  • I refuse to buy tissues for my home. I think they are a waste of money and you can totally blow your nose on toilet paper. When people ask for a tissue I tell them I'm out. #cootie
  • I deliberately don't clean and blame the dogs. I mean, we do have 2 dogs, but I can pretty confidently say they're not the reason why the toilet is dirty. #cootie
  • I generally don't wear underwear with pants so that I have fewer clothes to wash. I realize that they don't take up that much space, but it's one less thing to wash. In my head they take up as much room in the washer as a pair of jeans. Not having underwear has ruined many a shopping trip to the mall. So, if I tell you I don't want to try clothes on and would rather buy and return, believe me you don't want me to try them on.  #cootie

Do you have any cootie tendencies? If so, you better share!

I am linking up with Kathy, from Vodka and Soda so go see what other confessions people have!

I was going to post yesterday, but then I got distracted by being awesome. Modest, I know. For real though, yesterday was an awesome day. Me and my work wife received a grant that will really, really help some of the kids that we work with. I have to be honest here, which means telling you guys that she wrote the grant and pretty much did all the work and I am get to take partial credit becuase she put my name on the application too. I did tell her the check should just be written to "Amy and Friend."

I was actually quite nervous about our supervisor putting a meeting on our calendar with no agenda that stated our attendance was mandatory at 8:30 on a Monday morning. To me this sounds ominous, so I was sorta anxious that it would be bad news. Nope, it ended up being a great start to the week so I wanted to share it with you guys. The grant money is going to be used to buy curriculums specifically designed for students with cognitive disabilities, as one of the programs she and I support is the school district's specialized program for students with developmental disabilities. I am soooo EXCITED!!! This should be a huge game changer in how we work with the students in this program.
How was your Monday?

Leaving on a Jet Plane

Gotta be real honest here, I am exhausted. The Mr. left for his dive trip in the middle of the night (6am), so I had to take him to the airport at the time of night only hookers and vampires are out (4am), which meant getting up at 3:30am. I am not a morning person already and add in no sleep and a hint of PMS and I will claw your eyes out. Also, I am super, amazingly excited to be able to sleep in the middle of the bed. Like, I even made the bed with my pillows in the middle when I got up this morning so excited.

In light of my excitement about Mr.'s leaving on a jet plane, I am linking up with one of my fave travel songs! Enjoy.

To Do before saying "I Do"

So, last week one of my Humpday Confessions was that I am over planning the wedding. Then, I realized I haven't really talked about the wedding itself at all. So, I thought I'd share my To Do list with you so that you guys can get to know more!

ü  Venue: Our party is at a historic ballroom above an antique store in Westport (which is in Kansas City, MO). You have to walk in the front door of the antique store and to the left is a staircase, you go up the stairs and BAM! There is a big ballroom. It is pretty unique and different, which is what we wanted.
ü  Decorations: We are renting and borrowing milk glass and vintage looking items. My goal is to have a shabby vintage feel, but as I told my Mom not a rustic vibe (ie burlap). I am totally down with everything that I have seen so far, as my mom is an awesome decorator. We are planning to get together in June and put together some tablescapes and photograph them, so that we have those to go off of when decorating the day of.
ü  DJ: We are using KC Mobile DJ. He is such a nice guy! One of my Mom’s friends referred us to him, so we are pretty confident he will do an awesome job.
ü  Photography: We got this amazing photographer off of craigslist. We met with her in October to take some photos and she works really, really well with the two of us. Gabriel and I don’t really photo well together , so the fact that she was able to get some good ones of us is amazeballs.
ü  Food/Beverages: This is the one gap in our plan. We don’t want to pay for a caterer since we are only doing appetizers, but I really don’t want to attempt to cook this stuff ourselves the week of and I am concerned about the logistics of the day of. I’ll keep you updated on this one. Booze wise, we can bring in whatever we want, so we are doing wine, beer, and limited alcohol. Honestly, I don’t want the hassle of mixers and mixed drinks. And I want cute little koozies to give people, so we are doing canned beer. Sorta cootie, but I am ok with that.
ü  Cake: We have ordered a two-tier cake from Hy-Vee and cupcakes in four flavors. I like fruity flavors and Gabriel likes chocolate, so this is the perfect compromise.
ü  Dress: I have my dress, but haven’t gotten it altered yet. I need the perfect bra to hold the ladies up before I get it altered. That, and I am not 100% certain I will be this size in July as I have been back to working out more since physical therapy and getting my knee back in the game. I still need my shoes and accessories. I am sorta a procrastinator on this type of stuff. Gabriel went to Nordtrom’s and got a custom fitted suit, so we are set in that department.
ü  Hair and Makeup: I am still looking. My friend Jen offered to pay for this, so I want to find the best at a reasonable price. If anyone knows a good hair/makeup artist in the Kansas City area, let me know.
ü  Invites: They went out and people are have started to RSVP. We didn’t do Save the Dates, so we sent the invites out a little earlier than normal so people could have time to make travel arrangements if needed. My mom hand made these, so I will post of picture of them asap!

Is there anything I am forgetting? Any advice, tips, tricks?

Humpday Confessions

It's time for Humpday Confessions with Kat at Vodka and Soda.
All I want in life right now is chips. No, I am not PMSing, technically yes I am, but still chips are all I can think about. To the point that I am eating veggie straws to replace my wonderful, delicious chips. Call me fat again.
I want to take boudoir photos and am totally getting a groupon for it. I have no shame in my cheap ass game. Now, on to finding some slutty lingerie that still covers up my lady bits. Why? Becuase I want to look classy slutty.

I have been online shopping like I am a millionaire. I want to buy all the things. Unfortunately, I don't have millions just sitting around waiting to be spent at online boutiques. Why do I have to be so money poor right now?!

What are your confessions?
