Weekending {{Holiday Parties}}

December is crazy for us and our families, but this year is different. Gabriel's parents are moving to Houston, so they are packing up their home and we are trying to squeeze in every drop of time we can with them before they leave on the 18th. This weekend, we went to a gathering about 2 hours outside of Kansas City, hosted by my Mother-in-Laws family.

In years past, this get together has been wild and crazy. This year, we were pretty chill. Meaning, I just got slightly shitty, but managed to still eat McD's and fall asleep on the way home. Gabriel has such an awesome family!

We sat around having a hen party and sexually harassing dudes on tinder. Turns out, most of the dudes on tinder are lame asses.

As an exit ticket to leave the party, the hostess has each family take a photo in front of the tree. I LOVE THIS!

Gabriel's family, including his sister and brother-in-law who came in from Houston. We've already planned our trip in March to come see the new baby! Sarah has been buying her wrap dresses from Pink Blush Maternity online and raves about how awesome and inexpensive the clothes are. Her dress from the baby shower also came from there. My tunic is the one every blogger and her mama has from Nordstrom and my skinnies are from Express. If you haven't tried Express's denim, you  should! It's stretchy, but still holds it shape and comes in mid-rise, so your butt crack doesn't show.

I embarrass Gabriel so much by smooching on him. I just can't help myself. He looks os fine!

This upcoming weekend is my 30th birthday, so I'm hoping to see more friends and family! Have your holiday parties started? What do the holidays look like for you guys?

Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day weekend was filled with sports for me. We had tickets to the Royals for both Saturday and Sunday, which was a great way to spend a 3 day weekend!

Saturday nights tailgate. We mostly just sat and drank, which I like since I am generally the cook. After the game, we had McD's with no shame.

Gabriel likes to make fun of my selfie stick, but it takes such GREAT pictures! I even take it into the game, which gets awesome views of the field.

This one wasn't even taken with the selfie stick :) I love that G is starting to get into taking pictures. Well, I should say I love that he's starting to not be pissy about it, because I have a feeling he will never be into taking photos.

View from our seats! It was an awesome game, but we did lose.

On Sunday morning, G struggled just a little. We got up ate breakfast, then he laid back down with the boxers prior to meeting up with K & K for the Sunday 1:10 game.

Sunday afternoon game. It was SUPER hot outside and we were sweating balls. Thank goodness, our seats were in the Diamond Club so we were able to sit in the shade and have a breeze.

Poppin pinkies in the Diamond Club. You gotta be classy when you're in the Diamond Club. You can tell how hot it was by the fact we are all drinking frozen drinks to cool down. Again, the Royals lost. WTF, Royals?!

What all were you up to this weekend?

Celebrating the 4th in Style {{Food}}

I love food at an outdoor BBQ! There is always a huge variety and you can try out new recipes with no shame. Last year, I did a round up of 4th of July themed eats here that you might enjoy and I also have a Lemon Berry Trifle recipe that would be amaze, which you can find here

Couscous Fruit Salad by Noble Pig

Red, White, and Blue Summer Salad by Real Mom Kitchen- add chicken and you have a main dish!

Blueberry, Strawberry, Jicama Salsa by Two Peas and Their Pod- I've also seen this done as a fruit salad without all the spiciness. Just sub the jicama for apple, cilantro for basil and take out all the spicy elements.

Red, White, and Bleu Slaw by Taste of Home

Easy Flag Fruit Dessert by Family Fresh Meals - you could also sub cheese (brie, swiss, white cheddar, etc.) on here for the white component.

Patriotic Oreo Pops by Makoodle

Red Velvet 4th of July Cupcakes by Your Cup of Cake

Weekend in Review {{12.1.14}}

I'm sure we all did essentially the same thing this past weekend- ate a lot of food and saw family. That's what we did too. So instead of writing all about it I'll just give you some photos.

I lied, these two photos are from last weekend. I like to make G take selfies and told him he HAD to take a birthday selfie, so he indulged me.

This is Gabriel and his dad, Big Poppa. We went out to Capital Grille last weekend to celebrate their birthdays.

Our Thanksgiving feast may have been a little different than most people. We decided to go with filet, crab legs, skrimp, and other yummy foods that aren't traditionally served. Best. Decision. Ever.

These were my meager offerings. I love to make bruschetta it is super easy and healthy!

We then went to the Plaza for their annual lighting ceremony. Even though I have lived in KC my entire life, I don't remember ever having been for a lighting ceremony.

Gabriel, myself, and my Uncle Marty. Marty hosted our Thanksgiving wonderfulness.

After the lighting ceremony, we went to the local neighborhood bar. And everyone had a hang over the next day, except for me. Turns out, shots of fireball will do that to you.

Did you do anything super fun for the holiday?

Weekend in Review {{11.10.14}}

Friday was the same ol' same. Boo thang and I go to an early dinner for Mexican (cough, margaritas, cough). We literally go as early as possible to miss seeing other people, yet I still managed to be sat in the booth connected to the librarian at one of my previous schools AND from my new one. FML. How am I supposed to talk shit on my day now?! I just wanna go sit on my couch now.

Saturday... I really have no clue what I did on Saturday. It was filled with stuff. But nothing amazeballs. Grocery shopping and errands. You know, living the dream.

If this said "I'm in for the day." it would be entirely more accurate.

Sunday was filled with chores and a tiny nap. I took down all the Halloween/Fall decor and put up Christmas stuff! YAY! While it wasn't on my official to do list, we also cleaned out the garage and winterized our backyard. I made myself a nice little to-do list for the day and felt pretty good about it.

What all did you do? Am I crazy for putting up my Christmas stuff already?

Fourth of July Food

Gotta be honest, food is what my life revolves around. Date nights? Involve food. Parties? Food. Happy hour? Food. I like to plan my life around food... and then from there, I plan my outfits. So, I thought that I would give you some of the pinterest recipes from the Fourth of July that I wish I had thought of. I almost always make the same trifle for every holiday :)

Just clock on the name of the dish to go to the recipe. Enjoy!

feel free to add some vodka or rum :)

Again, add some booze!

What is your go to recipe? Especially if it is a drink recipe :)
